Is there any command-line software I can use to read EXIF tags?
I've used jhead http://www.sentex.net/~mwandel/jhead/ with great success in the past. The only problem with jhead is that it's very minimalistic -- no maker notes or anything supported.

To solve this, I've recently discovered exiftags http://johnst.org/sw/exiftags/. It supports most Canon maker notes (the ones I'm interested in: Camera Owner Name, Serial Number, Max-Lens-Aperture, and Lens-Zoom-Range) as well as all the normal exif tags.

Phil Harvey <phil@owl.phy.queensu.ca> has developed a Perl script that reads the Canon information and outputs in exactly the same format as the Canon utilities. It can be downloaded from http://owl.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/

Thanks, Phil!
