(Answer) (Category) Digital Photography FAQ's : (Category) Fuji FinePix S602Z FAQ : (Category) Storage Media :
Which is better: Smart Media, Compact Flash, or Microdrive?
All of these storage formats have their pros and cons. The statement "good, fast, cheap: pick two" holds true. SM & MD are the fastest of the three. MD, however, with it's moving components have a higher probability of failure and more battery pull. The SM, on the other hand, is fast and reliable, yet is only available currently up to 128MB. While this is to be extended, it is not certain that the S602Z will support these higher capacity SM cards. CF, by far the most popular portable storage format, has a slower speed, but is kind to the batteries and has very high reliability.
