What's the difference between the BP-511 and the BP-512?
Apparently the only difference is the form factor, although both will work in the EOS-300D. It is rumored that both will also work in the BG-E1 handgrip, but confirmation on this is still needed.

Both batteries are 7.1V, 1100mAh Li-Ion battery packs, and are used widely on similar class Canon gear. There are also third party created versions that should function identically.
