Why can't I record long movies on my compact flash even though I have lots of space?
The problem is that most compact flash cards have controllers which are too slow to keep up with the movie data coming through. Until recently, most compact flash cards could record approximately 60 seconds of VGA quality video. However, a workaround has been found with good results! If a CF card is formatted for a FAT filesystem with a block size of 8192, it has been shown to extend the video recording times to the full capacity of the memory card. Your mileage may vary on this one.
